Cindy has claimed to have a strong faith in God, and has been known to make statements such as “My faith is what keeps me going” and “If it wasn’t for my belief in God, I wouldn’t be here today.” Cindy is connected to a faith community and attends services on and off. During a recent meeting with Cindy, you notice her acting strangely. Throughout the session, her speech is disorganized (shifting from one topic to another) and she laughs inappropriately. She then tells you that God’s image literally appeared to her yesterday evening while she was sitting in the park. The vision lasted 20 minutes. Cindy is convinced that God visited her to send a special message. She did not reveal what the message was. Case Study Questions 1. What might you do or say when Cindy tells you about her vision? 2.
